This is so true. My husband was recently laid off from his job. We knew that it would be a rollercoaster, and resolved at the time to remember that God allows our trials for a purpose, and that no matter how things "felt" to us at any particular moment, that fundamental truth would not alter.

6 weeks later, we have to remind ourselves of that again and again. I have been re-reading many of my old CS Lewis favorites, and his un-flinching pragmatism comforts me every time. No touchy, feely stuff from him. Just clear truth, even when it's uncomfortable. What a mind!
